La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil is a show housed in a theater at Downtown Disney’s West Side at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. This is actually the first freestanding permanent structure built for Cirque du Soleil. The title La Nouba is from the French phrase faire la nouba, which means “to party” or “to live it up”.
This show opens a door where two worlds meet. These two worlds are the world of the Cirques who wear bright and fluorescent colored outfits and that of the Urbains who wear dark and monochromatic clothing.
When these two worlds collide, feel the magic and be amazed. Enter into the world of make-believe, where dreams and nightmares entwine. Experience an unforgettable journey into a place where the extraordinary transforms and overcomes the ordinary.
This show is fully packed with a dramatic lighting, brilliant choreography and music, stage set-up and amazing acrobatic acts
The characters that make up the cast of the La Nouba include:
Acrobatic pierrot: A red acrobat who is a member of the Red Pierrot family. He comes into view up on the mountain, on the rocks, on the wall at the End of the World, and at the heart of the action.
Clowns: Balthazar and Sergei provide a whole world of comedy.
Cleaning woman: Petite Madame who opened a door to an Attic that had been abandoned for many years is shocked to be in a world of the possible and the impossible, dream and reality, the wonderful and the everyday.
Dancers: A Romeo and Juliet love story involving a Pierrot clown and a lost ballerina who dance in a story filled with love, desire, fear and a longing for more.
Green bird: A flightless bird who has escaped from her cage. She desperately wanted to fly but incapable, so she went and joined in the circus. Because of this, she is trapped in the urban world just like a marionette with tangled strings.
Les Cons: The four Nuts who are all dressed up white. They are the ever present fools of the show who have only one idea which is to mind everyone’s business but their own. They disobey, jumble lines, stories and destinies. But most of all, they have fun.
Titan: A mysterious, solitary muscle man who marches into the stage and faces everyone while performing unusual poses. He uses the trampoline and power track in his acts. Beware of this giant and his potential threat.
Walker: Little Walker goes back and forth around the stage dressed in grey pinstripes, wearing a small bowler hat over his head.
The show is held from Tuesday to Saturday at 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
